Access at-home learning and other resourcesfor students, families, schools, and system leaders through theEmerson Collective. The City is partnering with local organizations to offer food and meal delivery aid for older adults and individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are isolating in their homes. Individuals 60 years of age and over, those who have tested positive for COVID-19, and those with specific underlying health conditions are eligible for participation in this program.
Together with their counterpart, LA Regional Food Bank, they serve the region through the support of USDA and the county’s department of social services to distribute food among their member agencies. Licensed behavioral health clinicians are available to provide culturally-affirming mental health and substance abuse counseling services to uninsured or underinsured Black residents during the pandemic. Other initiatives to support Black health are addressed in separate programs and include a Mental Health provider program and a Black Health Collaborative in collaboration with California State University, Long Beach. City of Long Beach’s Small Business Restart Grant Program provides emergency relief to small businesses impacted by theft or vandalism on May 31, 2020. Grants of $1,000-$2,000 each are available, and funds are limited. The Small Business Restart Grant Program provides grant funding to Long Beach businesses affected by damage or theft due to the unrest on May 31. Applicants are eligible for up to $10,000 in SBR Grant funding. Grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must complete the Business Damage Assessment Form, and they will then be contacted by City staff with instructions on how to apply. The grant amount will be based on supporting documentation that illustrates the extent of damages.
Stagnant water in pipes can cause unhealthy water conditions to develop and grow in those pipes. All businesses should ensure their water system is safe to use before reopening by following the CDC’s Guidance for Building Water Systems. TCC Family Health, formerly known as The Children’s Clinic, provides healthcare services to those of all ages with MediCal, the uninsured and those underserved, regardless of their ability to pay or immigration status. The city’s Economic Development Department has a business hotline to help businesses impacted by COVID-19. Women’s Shelter of Long Beach provides free and confidential support for domestic violence victims, which can include emergency supportive housing.
Families can exercise, do mind and body wellness practices using gardening, and harvest vegetables at home for healthy cooking. We have virtual wellness classes, deliver food, and we help build home gardens with virtual gardening classes, deliver donate soil, plants, and seeds. provides services to all people with disabilities, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, sexual preference or disability type.

The program encourages banks and other financial institutions to make loans to small businesses that have difficulty obtaining financing. The Small Business Finance Center partners with Financial Development Corporations to provide loan guarantees and direct loans for small businesses and nonprofits that experience capital access barriers. The interest rate is 3.75 percent for small businesses. The interest rate for private non-profit organizations is 2.75 percent.

In partnership with the Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine , the Healthy Aging Center is preparing for the distribution of care kits at participating PRM sites in Dec. Care kits will include medical and hygiene supplies and resource packets to offer additional information and resource connections. This is typically our busiest fundraising season, and without the ability to host our regular art workshops and events, this grant has made it possible for us to keep our doors open. Serving the SoCal region for over 45 years, the Foodbank of Southern California consists of over 700 certified charitable community agencies that care for hungry people in need from all walks of life.

Urban Community Outreach is providing rental assistance and rent deposits. Fountain of Life Covenant Church at 2060 Santa Fe Avenue has a food pantry on Thursdays from 9 a.m. Pools of Hope at 6801 Long Beach Boulevard has a food pantry available on Thursdays from 2 p.m. Light and Life Christian Fellowship at 5951 Downey Avenue offers a food pantry on Mondays from 11 a.m. Church One Ministries at th Street has a food pantry available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. Grant A.M.E Church at 1129 Alamitos Avenue will have a food pantry available on Wednesdays from 9 a.m.

The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development has compiled a comprehensive resource guide for employers. The State of California requires the use of masks in indoor public places and in outdoor public spaces when social distancing is not possible.
